PLA+ is TerraEco's recommended first roll — it prints almost as easily as PLA but survives drops, desk heat and warm cars that shatter plain PLA. These settings work on virtually any printer — Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, Anycubic and clones.
PLA vs PLA+: same printing, different part
If the two names make you hesitate, stop: at the printer they are the same process. Same nozzle range, same bed range, same speeds, same fan, same retraction — one table below serves both, and a profile tuned for PLA prints PLA+ fine and vice versa.
The difference shows up only after the print finishes: PLA+ parts bend further before snapping, survive drops and warm cars, and soften at higher temperatures. Plain PLA is fine for display models; PLA+ is the safer default for anything you will touch, mount or carry. Buy either with confidence — you will not need to relearn settings when you switch.
Recommended settings
- Nozzle temperature: 200–230°C (start at 215°C — the TerraEco PLA/PLA+ label range; plain PLA sits inside the same window)
- Bed temperature: 45–65°C, or room-temperature PEI with glue stick
- Print speed: 60–120 mm/s for outer walls, up to 200 mm/s infill on fast printers
- Part cooling fan: 100% after layer 3
- Layer height: 0.2 mm standard, 0.12 mm for detailed models
- Retraction: 0.8 mm at 40 mm/s (direct drive) or 5 mm at 45 mm/s (Bowden)
Bed adhesion tips
PLA sticks well to textured PEI, glass with glue stick, or painter's tape. If corners lift, raise the bed 5°C, slow the first layer to 20 mm/s, and make sure the build plate is grease-free — a wipe with isopropyl alcohol before each print solves most adhesion problems.
Tropical climate note
In the Philippines' humidity, even PLA slowly absorbs moisture. If you hear popping or see rough surfaces, dry the spool at 50°C for 4–8 hours — stay at 50, PLA and PLA+ get soft in the spool above it. Store opened rolls in a sealed box with desiccant. The factory vacuum seal keeps the spool dry until you open it — after that, a sealed container with desiccant is the next best thing.
